It was a big night for Lauren Daigle as she swept the Grammys; winning both the Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song category – with “You Say” – and the Best Contemporary Christian Music Album category – with her recent release, Look Up Child.
Taking advantage of the opportunity, a poised and comfortable Daigle thanked both Jesus and her production team for allowing her to spread love via her music to the world. “I just want to thank Jesus for letting me be a part of this; that he’s put a voice in my throat – for everybody who’s a writer, whoever is involved in all of this, I just think it’s such a gift.”

The Grammy nominations and wins cap off a monumental, and controversial year for Daigle. Her album, Look Up Child has seen much crossover success into the secular music world; affording Lauren the opportunity to perform on the Ellen Show, The Today Show, and The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Look Up Child set records as it debuted on the Billboard Music Charts; becoming the first Christian artist to top all five of Billboard’s core Christian charts simultaneously.
Daigle’s sophomore studio album also topped the Top Christian Albums chart by a mile. It notched a No. 3 entry on the all-genre Billboard 200, an impressive showing that reflects Lauren’s crossover appeal, and potential in the mainstream music scene.
However, her performance on the Ellen Show sparked controversy as some fans took offense at Daigle singing on a program whose host is gay. Her response has been to stay positive and focus on the opportunities for the gospel the performances and the album sales have afforded her.
